England Golf Club News 9th Jul, 2021 by ukclubgolfer.co.uk
Leaderboard Golf, a privately owned company, has three golf resorts across England: Sandford Springs, Dale Hill and the Oxfordshire – all of them delivering a golf break to remember in the stunning English countryside. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, Leaderboard Golf has continued to invest in its resorts to ensure that they continue to offer guests the very best experience possible.
The Oxfordshire has become well-known as one of the leading golf venues in the UK as a result of the quality of the course and the breathtaking scenery that it boasts.
The resort has continued to build on its reputation and, since last year, installed three substantial new pathways on the course, giving improved access to the tees and fairways during the winter months. As well as this, the greenkeeping team now uses a Verti Drainer to alleviate waterlogging on the course and deeply aerate the ground to promote healthy grass growth.
On top of this, the team has recently invested in a fairway comb to remove large amounts of thatch across all fairways. In addition to the golf course, renewable energy has been a key part of The Oxfordshire’s progression strategy. A solar plant installation now generates up to 25% of the total energy consumption annually, meaning much less reliance on grid power. With this multitude of changes, it’s clear that The Oxfordshire is committed to improving its already fantastic resort, and that’s why you should see for yourself what it’s all about.
It’s about time you treated yourself to a golf break in East Sussex at Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club.
Both the Old Course and the Ian Woosnam Course offer a challenging round for breaks of any size and ability.
There is a continuous bunker renovation programme on both the Ian Woosnam and Dale Hill courses. This is a major priority for Dale Hill’s greenkeeping team, who have worked hard to improve drainage, replace sand and upgrade the edges of the bunkers. Several fairway renovations have also taken place to make the courses enjoyable for all golfers, while new greenkeeping machinery has been added to the fleet over the last couple of years to help ensure the Dale Hill courses are always presented in excellent condition throughout the year. It’s not just the course that has benefited from investment, with the hotel being voted the top golf hotel in the area, recently winning Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award, putting it in the top 10% of hotels worldwide.
To add to its offering, the hotel built a block of 15 new spacious and modern bedrooms in 2018 and refurbished the 35 hotel rooms, gym and sauna to add to its offering. This is a tremendous venue to experience tremendous golf and relax in the tranquil setting of the English countryside.
A golf hotel set among the beautiful rolling hills of Watership Down in Hampshire, with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, Sandford Springs is a visual and golfing delight.
Its greenkeeping team takes great pride in the course and has made numerous improvements to all areas of the three loops. As Sandford Springs sits on a clay base, deep drainage is essential to keep the courses at their optimum during the winter months.
As a result of this, a long-term drainage programme is in place, with 6,320 metres of drainage being laid, which is complemented by 15,000m of Lytag banding. This draws surface water away from the playing surface and makes the course enjoyable to play throughout the winter. Winter golfers also benefit from new tarmac paths across the three loops.
In total, 70 bunkers have been completely replaced, new draining work and 400 tonnes of sand has been added to further enhance the golfing experience. In recent years, the 13th, 14th and 15th holes have been remodelled, with the 15th pond being totally rebuilt, and a new stone bridge constructed over the stream between 14 and 15.
