Arguably the biggest sporting event taking place in Scotland this year, the Solheim Cup has gone from strength to strength in recent times, and two experienced broadcasting names were needed to further boost the event’s global reach.
Dougherty is a familiar face for all golf fans, as she has previously hosted the Ryder Cup opening and closing ceremonies, as well as working for Sky Sports and the Golf Channel.
“I’m delighted to be an ambassador,” said Dougherty, who is married to fellow Sky Sports presenter and former European Tour player Nick Dougherty.
“I grew up watching and following the Solheim Cup, so to be part of the week is incredibly special for me.
“The players are role models to us all. Let’s keep shining the spotlight on women’s sport.”
Cotter is another familiar voice for sports viewers, as he combines work with the BBC, on TV and radio, with commentating for BT Sport as one of the most recognisable Scottish voices in sport.
He said: “I’m very proud to be a host ambassador for the Solheim Cup as it combines my love of golf with one of the great golfing venues in my home country.”
