Lincolnshire to co-host all-new women’s golf events
The amateur tournament will feature an Order of Merit and other prizes.
An all-new women’s tournament has been launched by Women on the Tee, a company focused on increasing female participation in the game.
Women on the Tee was launched in February 2021 to offer competitive and fun opportunities for amateur women golfers, complementing existing club, county and national events.
Women can sign up to events individually or as a group to enjoy the challenge of different courses across the country and meet like-minded players.
Membership is obtained through the website womenonthetee.com at the discounted rate of £30.
The Women on the Tee members-only competition schedule for 2021 includes five one-day strokeplay events, one two-day fourball betterball event and one-day strokeplay.
The flagship event is the WPGA Ladies Pro-Am and is to be held at Bowood Golf Club on August 19.
The tournament is an all-female Pro-Am with up to 28 teams playing for prizes. Pros can also compete in an individual WPGA Order of Merit competition.
Another event will be held at Louth’s Kenwick Park. The full Women on the Tee 2021 schedule is: Mill Ride GC, Berkshire, May 25; High Post GC, Wiltshire, June 28; Bromborough GC, Wirral, August 11; WPGA Ladies Pro-Am, Bowood, Wiltshire, August 19; Leamington and County GC, Warwickshire, September 15; Kenwick Park, Louth, September 29-30; South Staffordshire, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, October 4.
Each event offers prizes and Women on the Tee Order of Merit points for gross and net winners in two divisions: mid amateur, age 49 and under; and senior, 50 and over.
All tournaments will strictly adhere to the England Golf Play Safe protocols.
“Our goal is to create professional and well organised events where players feel they are getting an elite golfing experience,” said Women on the Tee founder Julie Walker.
